Direct of the Epigraphic Survey, W. Raymond Johnson, was featured in an article on "How Climate Change and Population Growth Threaten Egypt's Ancient Treasures" by the United Nations Environment Programme. In the article, Dr. Johnson discusses the effects of atmospheric haze, the increase in salinity, and the urgency of cultural heritage preservation in Egypt.
